7:30 am – 9:00 am:

The Cache Dash Splash III – Behind Bars Event Day (GC73TPX) starts off with check-in at Veteran’s Field, Long Beach, N46° 21.015 W124° 03.218

This year’s event weekend will take you on a tour of Pacific County and Willapa Bay, featuring real-life local frontier justice — good guys and bad guys, midnight raiders, mysterious disappearances, burial sites of notorious crooks, jails, and more, with a trackable geocoin awaiting following your successful hunts!  Be sure to check out all the details of your weekend adventure at 2017 Event Highlights

Pick up your registration packets, the jail roster booklet you’ll need to record your cache finds to claim a geocoin, the event schedule and nametags, sign the logbook, and get some basic help if you need to get started with your day of geocaching.  Coffee and light refreshments will be served to jump-start your day.

9:00 am – ??:

Hunt down as many of the new caches placed for the event as you like, along with loads of other fun and scenic existing caches.

If you need a break from caching or have non-caching family members with you, take a drive on the beach, go for a bike or horseback ride, check out the World Kite Museum and try your hand at kite flying, act like a tourist and have an ice cream cone and window shop, rent bikes or scooters and ride on the sand or the paved Discovery Trail, visit a lighthouse or go bird watching, or even take a surfing lesson!  Check out all of the great stuff available to keep you and your family entertained at the Long Beach Peninsula Visitor Info Center website!

All Day Saturday:

Last year’s Dash was so much fun, we’re putting together another really awesome adventure that you can check out all day Saturday.  More details at The Dash.

5:30 pm – 8:00 pm:

Sit down to a delicious no-host, no hassle Mexican buffet dinner at the weekend’s event headquarters, the Chautauqua Lodge Conference Center, N46° 21.695 W124° 03.500.

We’ve got a great new menu planned for you this year, sure to please even the most picky eaters! Streetside Tacos will be providing an all-you-can eat buffet, where you can build your own meal from a great variety of fresh, house-made ingredients. Choices include Carnitas, Chicken Tinga (poached in tomato, garlic, chipotle and adobo), vegetarian Mexican rice and beans, pico de gallo, onions, jalepenos, cilantro, shredded cheese, Mexican cojita cheese, Mexican crema, fresh limes, guacamole, salsa verde, house-made hot sauces, fresh grilled corn tortillas and fresh-fried tortilla chips. Bottled water will also be provided with your meal.

You’re welcome to bring your own beer, wine or soft drinks to the dinner, but there won’t be a beverage cart this year due to the high cost of a liquor permit.  There will be plenty of bottled water available at no charge, included with your dinner.

I will need to guarantee at least 100 meals for them to cater our dinner, so please include this in your registration payment if you are interested so I can confirm the date with them!  Service will start at 5:30 sharp, and I promise there will be plenty of water available this year!  It’s recommended that you pre-reserve your meal, which you can include in your registration for the event. If space is available, you may be able to purchase your dinner ticket at the door, but no guarantees!

You do not need to purchase dinner to attend the evening event — if this menu doesn’t tempt you, you can eat elsewhere or bring some to-go food to the event.

During and after dinner, you’ll be able to  swap your Jail Roster booklet for this year’s trackable geocoin.  You can also pick up your coin beginning Monday, September 18, at the Long Beach Peninsula Visitor Information Bureau if you don’t complete your cache finds during the weekend.
