You can look forward to plenty of new caches to be placed in the area, ready and waiting for you on event day, Saturday, September 15. This year’s event theme features the days of early transportation on the Long Beach peninsula, from horses and mules, to stagecoaches that ran on the sand at low tide, to the beloved and quirky Clamshell Railroad that transported passengers and cargo before any paved roads were in place. There will be about 20 caches placed at the locations of the train’s stops for you to find in order to earn your trackable coin, as well as some additional fun optional caches as well.
Be sure to register in advance to receive email updates, priority check-in on Saturday morning, and ensure your spot at the Saturday evening event!
Caches will be published during the week just before the event, along with a bookmark list for easy downloading to your GPS or smartphone. Cell service can be spotty on the peninsula, so take advantage of free wifi at various locations. A list of free local wifi hotspots can be found here.
There will be plenty of opportunities for FTF, so relax and enjoy yourself while you discover this amazing little corner of Washington — no need to rush! You may even want to plan an extra day or two after the event to stay and enjoy all that the area has to offer!
